GLD 07
The STL files ready to use in a slicer and print are available at this link. (I recommend using Ultimaker Cura)
For those interested in obtaining an assembled hull with fin, bulb and rudder, please contact me here.
In this project I have basically taken the design of the bottom of my last wooden boat the GLD-04 and I have modified it to print it in 3D.
With the experience gained with the GLD-05 and the GLD-06, I have realized that I had to be able to build a boat by assembling as few parts as possible to minimize the probability of the pieces becoming unstuck over time and increasing further stiffen the entire boat to further improve longevity.
So the great advance that I have achieved with this development is not the shape of the hull itself, but the way in which the ship is printed in spiral mode or vase mode. All internal structural parts and reinforcements (keel box, shroud reinforcements, stay reinforcements, etc) as well as external fittings (shroud anchors, backstay, stay, sheet passages, etc) are printed at the same time as the skin of the boat and all in vase or spiral mode!!!, this allows to have a totally watertight boat, very resistant and above all easy to assemble since almost all the pieces are included in the design of the boat.
With a 400mm high printer the impression of a complete boat is reduced to 3 sections to assemble, adding only a box for the batteries, the mast for the mainsheet and the bow fender.
For me this is really the biggest advance as far as I am concerned in 3D printing a strong and competitive boat.
